INFORMATION FOR PRESENTERS

Following is helpful information for preparing both oral and poster presentations.

Oral Presentations

AUDIOVISUAL: Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat Reader are the only acceptable audiovisual formats for electronic presentations. Presentations cannot use overhead or slide projectors. The venue will be equipped with a dedicated projector and PC (and Macintosh) laptop.

PREPARATION: Oral presenters will need to provide their powerpoint files for pre-loading onto the dedicated laptop on the morning of the day of their presentation to the member of the organising committee managing the projector-laptop on the given day. Acceptable media: CDs, DVD's, Flash drives. You will need to ensure that these are compatible with our laptops - which will have CD and DVD readers, and USB ports.

PRESENTATION LENGTH: Oral presentations will be strictly limited to 15 minutes. A 5-minute period between presentations will accommodate questions, discussion, and introduction of the next speaker. This 5-minute period belongs to the audience and to the chairs of the session, not to the speakers. TIME LIMITS WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED BY SESSION CHAIRS.

CANCELLATION: If circumstances prevent attendance, the author should attempt to find another individual to make the presentation. If cancellation is unavoidable, the author should notify seri2009@bgpa.wa.gov.au as soon as possible.

Poster Presentations

POSTER DIMENSIONS: Poster presentations should be no larger than A0 size (840 mm x 1188 mm).

POSTER DISPLAY BOARDS: Pushpins and/or velcro will be supplied, and are the only method of attaching the poster to the board. Poster boards will only cater for portrait, not landscape, format.

POSTER PRESENTATION: Posters will be displayed for the duration of the conference so that interested persons can view the poster even when the author is not in attendance. An informal
late-afternoon session will be allocated to enable authors to discuss their presentations. Authors are required to be present for this scheduled 1.5 hour period during the day the poster is being displayed.
